Festive projects for Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis

It’s been a very productive festive period for us at Yes Please Productions, in fact, we’ve been working on our Christmas output since the height of summer! We’ve been lucky enough to work on content with some great new clients for some truly legendary artists.

Louis Armstrong – Animated Music Video

It was a huge honour to be asked by Verve Records to create an animated accompaniment for a previously unreleased reading of ‘A Visit From St Nicholas’ by Louis Armstrong. Working with our fantastic team of animators and designers, we created a warm, nostalgic video, inspired by the work of mid-century animation studios such as UPA.

The video was a key part of the campaign for Louis’ holiday album ‘Louis Wishes You a Cool Yule’. The campaign has been a huge success, helping propel ‘Cool Yule’ to Armstrong’s highest Billboard chart position since Hello Dolly in 1964.

Ella Fitzgerald – Animated Music Video

Hot on the heels of the Louis animation, Verve once again came to us for another animated video for a jazz legend. This time for the first lady of song, Ella Fitzgerald. Faced with a very challenging schedule, our team did an outstanding job putting together this mid-century-styled animation for Ella’s swinging take on ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’.

Elvis – Lyric Video

Just as we thought the festive content was coming to a close, one last Christmas job landed on our desk – and what a job it was! Sony contacted us at the start of December to create a lyric video for Silver Bells by Elvis! We jumped at the opportunity to work for the King, and created this nostalgic scrap-book style animation, full of wonderful photos and home movie footage from the Presley archives.

Bob Dylan – Unboxing Video

To prove we’ve not been entirely Christmas-obsessed, here’s a non-holiday related recent project. This time an unboxing video for the release of Bob Dylan’s ‘Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions’. An amazing looking 10 LP box set of outtakes, alternate versions and other previously unreleased material celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Time Out Of Mind’.

Creative Direction – ‘ABBA Gold’ 30th Anniversary

Amongst all the festive joy, we’ve been continuing to work our way through ABBA’s amazing back catalogue – continuing our 30th Anniversary creative direction for ‘ABBA Gold’. Check out our Art Deco inspired, diamond-encrusted video for ‘Money Money Money’, and the retro, super 8 vibes of ‘The Name of the Game’.
