New visuals for every track on ‘ABBA Gold’
We are very proud to announce that throughout this year and into 2023, Yes Please Productions will be creating a new visual for every track on ABBA’s 1992 compilation album ‘ABBA Gold’. ABBA have lots of activity planned for this year and we are delighted to be working with Universal Music, along with ABBA’s management team to create fresh interpretations of their biggest hits.
The series launched in March with a fresh visual interpretation of the 1979 hit “Chiquitita”.
ABBA – Chiquitita
The clip has been launched on the Swedish superstars’ YouTube channel, accompanied by the social media handles #ABBA and #DuetWithABBA.
The video uses period footage of the group and adds the song’s lyrics, seen across the screen in bold capital letters. Unusually for ABBA, “Chiquitita” did not feature an original custom-made video, and the one familiar to millions of fans is from a contemporary TV performance. The new interpretation is sure to help bring this much-loved classic from the ABBA catalog to another new generation of admirers.
ABBA – Waterloo
‘Waterloo’ is synonymous with ABBA’s win at Eurovision in 1974, and this visual was released on the 48th anniversary of this performance. This visual celebrates the iconic outfits they wore along with ABBA’s sense of fun and personality.
The holographic badges from the jackets, the heart shaped jewellery, the bright blue satin and the star-shaped guitar are all referenced, along with sparkles and glows. The typeface references the font from the single of ‘Waterloo’, tying the visual to the original release.
Articles detailing these exciting ABBA projects and more of the group’s plans for this year were featured on Universal Music’s udiscovermusic channel and can be read here:
