To mark the release of Jon Hopkins’ much anticipated new album ‘Music For Psychedelic Therapy’, Yes Please Productions were delighted to be asked to create a visual accompaniment to the track ’Sit Around The Fire’. The track takes the form of a recording of legendary spiritual teacher Ram Dass, over which Hopkins has added a subtle, hypnotic soundscape. A key aim for us was to induce the same hypnotic, meditative feel with the visuals that the audio creates.

Our brief was to use the artwork and aesthetic from Ram Dass’ seminal book on meditation, spirituality, and enlightenment ‘Be Here Now’. The video is made up almost entirely of images directly taken from the book. We created an alphabet by scanning the type from the book, which is used throughout the video, and cut up, re-drew, and repurposed the illustrations to form the basis of our layouts and animations.
